Abu Ghraib Tactics Were First Used at GuantanamoWhat we have here is not a failure to communicate, but one of communicating the wrong thing. And of refusing to understand--peevishly so--the tastes, mores and preferences of our consuming public.
Interrogators at the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, forced a stubborn detainee to wear women's underwear on his head, confronted him with snarling military working dogs and attached a leash to his chains, according to a newly released military investigation that shows the tactics were employed there months before military police used them on detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq...
...The report's findings are the strongest indication yet that the abusive practices seen in photographs at Abu Ghraib were not the invention of a small group of thrill-seeking military police officers. The report shows that they were used on Qahtani several months before the United States invaded Iraq.
The investigation also supports the idea that soldiers believed that placing hoods on detainees, forcing them to appear nude in front of women and sexually humiliating them were approved interrogation techniques for use on detainees.
The product? All the glorious stuff in this IPO:

The Consumer? These guys:

No, we're screwing the pooch with a vengeance on this one. And then, like weasels, or 5 year olds, lying through our teeth when nabbed for being sunshine patriots and a la carte feedom lovers. Rolling over for more excuses and rationalization than we'd ever accept from our own 5-year olds. Imagine: we have a higher threshold of truth from our kids than we do from the men and women who can send our kids off to die for causes good or bad. A higher threshold of integrity in our homes than from those who can yank them out from under us to build a shopping mall in its place. Why's that matter? Economic irrationalism.
Economic irrationalism, and this consuming public:

Are you a CEO or Manager or Investor Relations specialist? Hell, do you scribble ads for a living or sell vacuum cleaners? If yes, then--as revealed drip by drip in headlines--what you are witnessing on business and political fronts is the short-circuting of any remnant of institutional trust and goodwill that you need to do your job, at precisely the time more transparent communication options are growing exponentially. Doesn't matter if you are Republican or Democrat, Socialist or Silly Party. When the final agonizing unrolling of these things are done, if they ever are, you will be all the poorer for it. Me too.
"Official" will soon enough be synonymous with "lie." Whoops, too late.
Now, what was it you were trying to sell me?
