Luddism meets Lameism, sucks all oxygen out of room
I've done the occasional campaign for issues oriented groups and, for the most part, they insist that the work make sense and carry some compelling factual news.
Somehow, ExxonMobil's threshold for "compelling" seems to have failed to engage in this series of 60 second ads in preemptive answer to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." They want us to follow along gullibly as they factesquely exort: carbon dioxide is “essential to life” because “we breathe it out.”
By the end I was actually surpised they left out how it makes our colas all bubbly and nose-tickling.
Yeah, that's their premise. CO2 is marvy, leave it be, meanies! More is better so bring it on in huge gales because, well, that's the circle of life. Another copy point covers the fact of ocean-release CO2 too. Yahoo. Since there's lotsa salt in the ocean and that's just nature being natural I can also skip the low-sodium diet from the Doc. The Salt Council says Salt is good, you see? Lots of it. CO2 as well, because exhalation of respiratory waste gases is a natural function. As is the excretion of Tuesday's prime rib, baked potato and iced tea. Yes indeeed, CEI, the trade group funded by Exxon et al seems to be saying that the products of human exertion and existing deserve a holy place, perhaps a fountain in every town square, a growing pile on every lawn. Check out the spots here.
