Faison School's PumpkinPalooza
Our crew participated in Richmond's Faison School for Autism's PumpkinPalooza this past weekend, 3 hours to carve and then judged with each auctioned-off Saturday evening. Lots of fun and a decent pile of money looks to have been raised.
Left is our original idea. (Feel free to swipe and mash-up as needed - large print here.)
Our luck of the draw pumpkin was a bit smaller than the expected 100-pounder and a tad out-of-skew-on't-treadle for a decent "globe." Bring on the improv.
Note the too-clever-by-half use of the old letter "s" that looks like an "f." No, there weren't a lot of history professors or Chaucer fans among the judges. Yes, many people said it was a "cool Loch Ness Monster."
Next year we'll go for Don Norman's Visceral Design, a slightly more Right Brain approach...
