McCain: . . . and frogs and locusts will rain from the sky

If Congress does not pass legislation to address the crisis, credit will dry up, people will no longer be able to buy homes, life savings will be at stake and businesses will not have enough money to pay salaries . . .

Try it at home. . . and frogs and locusts will rain from the sky
"If we do not act, every corner of our country will be impacted," McCain said. "We cannot allow this to happen."
That's my thirteenth-favorite fighter pilot trying the Emergency Presidential Gravitas JATO assist since the polls have turned south on him. Note in the article describing the turn of events how he takes credit, or rather, forgets to credit his opponent for the initial idea of a joint statement and, in his Mav way, acts all post-partisan and stuff:
The Obama campaign said in a statement that Obama had called McCain around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to propose that they issue a joint statement in support of a package to help fix the economy as soon as possible. McCain called back six hours later and agreed to the idea of the statement, the Obama campaign said. McCain's statement was issued to the media a few minutes later.
Not a joint statement, no credit for a maganimous leaderish gesture, just a tepid invitation for Obama to "join" him, John McCain, who approved this campaign-suspending message for reasons completely beyond mere political survival.

I love this man of honor shtick he still tries to carry off. What gives?

Nothing has changed in the last few days except the awful polling trends. The deals and qualifiers are getting hammered out. McCain pal Sen. Lindsey Graham says the bailout is Deadlocked!, Bush and knowledgable congress-critters say Not So! Non-partisan economists view this as a big problem that needs fixing, but as explained in this writer's opinion elsewhere, it's white shoe investment guys blowing their own credit ratings that are catalyzing this clusterbuster. They must be saved or, or, or... you know what to say here.
