McCain: What I want to be when I grow up
The—the constant partisan rancor that stops us from solving these problems isn’t a cause. It’s a symptom. It’s what happens when people go to Washington to work for themselves and not for you.
Again and again—again and again, I’ve worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed. That’s how I will govern as president. I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again.
All very nice. I can picture the scenario. I will use my contacts and relationships to build a business and expertise and a respected record in mortuary. Then, I will diversify into OB-GYN.
Should be a piece of cake.

pretty much undoes the maverick idea, doesn't it?
I lived through the crazy S&L building boom, selling pre-fab fireplaces. The one question that nobody asked or answered was: who's gonna live in these places when we have a housing glut?
We got the RTC out of that madness.
It's amazing how an entire culture can adopt such a fantastic worldview. It's the reason I started writing a book about hyper-reality --
