Naughty or not, aren't librarians supposed to read?

Ms Couric: "When it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?"

Mrs Palin: "I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media."

Ms Couric: What, specifically?

Mrs Palin: "Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years."

Ms Couric: "Can you name a few?"

Mrs Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, 'wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America."
Hah. What a maneuver! No, no, no. That's not Palin on the spot for being a paper-thin dope, it's Couric calling Alaska king-sized stupid.

I'm flashing back.... A reprise: What if business conversations paralleled 2004 [and 2008] political discourse?

1. Mr. Chairman, our market share is declining and margins are slipping.
2. Damn your mouth, TRAITOR!

1. Members of the Board, Dynetron's Executive Commitee has refused our tender offer.
2. Why?
1. Umm, says here: "'Say yes, or we'll mount a global PR campaign to brand you as smelly cowards.' is not negotiation."

1. Bob, we still have serious QA issues with the line. You promised you had it fixed.
2. No, Frank, I have serious issues with you. Why do you hate the Chairman?

1. Mary, I don't think the cheaper coffee service is going over well.
2. Dammit Sue! Freedom has costs, don't they know that?

Is she for real? At least couldn't she give the standard answer, "The Bible is a book that has meant the world to me". At least from there she could have said taken the conversation in another direction.

The one thing that scares me: is that she could be playing stupid. What if she is really smart and has lowered her expectations on purpose and she comes out at the VP debate and kicks Bidens ass?

Nah... I think she is really that dumb.

Great find! Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, the Bible has all kinds of wisdom I hear. I've read some of it so I can see why some would profess that. Palin didn't and I can guess why: http://tinyurl.com/39bl6a

George Lindbeck, the famous Yale theologian, has commented on the decreasing knowledge of Scripture from a professor’s perspective.

“When I first arrived at Yale, even those who came from nonreligious backgrounds knew the Bible better than most of those now who come from churchgoing families,” he says.[5]

This is also the view of theologian and author David Wells.

“I have watched with growing disbelief as the evangelical church has cheerfully plunged into astounding theological illiteracy,” declares Wells in his book No Place for Truth.[6]
