In the beginning, there were chicks and dudes. And it was good.

Merry Season's Greetings, all! What do you get the readers of a free and infrequent yet frequently typo-laden blog thingy? Why, an incomplete snarky poster on the history of man, of course! Scroll down if you wanna see the thing, or stick around up here for the boring story.

About five years ago I ran across a book called Alphabet and the Goddess, by Leonard Shlain (Amazon list of his stuff). He's an MD-surgeon with a deep and damn broad like of history, anthropology and many other things. The "Goddess" book was a cool exploration of how Women's sensibilities, rhythms, neurological preferences were once the guiding way of pre-pre-modern civilization. Then, some jerk came along and invented rules and hierarchy for language, first spoken, then written, and bang!, the Fem party was over and Taylorism and Six Sigma was king. For a time, at least.

If you read it with an open mind, it really can help one understand why "authenticity", "organic," etc are such Holy Grails in the Digital Age. The book was actually a broader exploration of Right and Left brain tendencies before Dan Pink ran with that idea in "A Whole new mind." I recommend it, and his earlier "Art & Physics" and the newer "Sex, Time and Power: How women's sexuality shaped human evolution" if you've got gift cards to burn.

Anyway, reading those and other things led me to doodling on how we are, today, sorta reverting to a new era of appreciating sensuousness in term of hands-on and in-person experiences being more deeply satisfying than frumpy facts, procedure, theorizing and virtuality (the approximation of "being" and "doing.")

Sounds too full-of-it and cerebral? See, that's why the snarky poster!

Half-done as it is, here's From Goddess, to God, and back..... Click it for bigger
